Colosseum Roman Food Tour

  • 3 hours

Explore the trendy neighborhood of Monti, in the Colosseum area, and unearth the flavors of its district, including its world-famous pizzas and other lesser-known, but delicious dishes.

Head to the imposing Roman Colosseum and greet your guide just outside the Colosseo Metro Station, where you’ll begin your gourmet tour.

Your food-enthusiast guide will explain the history of Italy’s gastronomy while you sample some the city’s most renowned dishes. Your first stop will be in an authentic pizzeria, where you’ll enjoy a heavenly homemade pizza. You’ll learn that this oven-based dish was originally a common food for underprivileged inhabitants. Walk along Monti's pastel colored streets and discover other myths and facts about the county’s legendary cuisine.

Next, try the mouth-watering polpettes, typical Roman meatballs, in a street stand. These are traditionally made of meat, but can also be made of fish or any kind of vegetable. The streets are also packed with shops that sell traditional cheeses and cold cuts. Led by your guide, you’ll walk into an eatery to taste these delicatessens accompanied by a glass of Italian wine.

After tasting various classic Roman dishes, you’ll finish the tour in a “gelateria” located in front of the Colosseum and treat yourself to one of the most iconic Italian desserts.
