Set off on a full day-trip from Rome on an air-conditioned coach and discover the eerie ruins of Pompeii and revel in a brief panoramic tour of Naples, one of the oldest uninterruptedly populated cities in the world.
Your guide will collect you at your hotel bright and early and you’ll depart to Naples, crossing Rome’s fertile landscape and the area of the castles called Castelli Romani. Montecassino is one of the little towns of the region, where the Battle of Monte Cassino took place during World War II.
Upon arrival in the UNESCO-listed Naples, relax while you enjoy a panoramic tour of Italy’s third-largest city, its striking palaces, churches and landmarks. You will be driven to Posillipo, a picturesque residential quarter in Naples, where you'll appreciate the magnificent views of the city.
After a brief tour of Naples, you’ll head to Pompeii for a guided tour of the ancient city. Before a 2-hour guided tour of one of the most intriguing archaeological experiences in the world, you’ll stop for lunch (included in the price of the tour).
Follow your guide through the ghostly streets of Pompeii, buried under tons of volcanic ash when Mont Vesuvius erupted in A.D. 79, killing 2,000 inhabitants. The town was discovered 1,700 years later and now is a remarkably well-preserved archaeological site, where you’ll get a real sense of how life was in an ancient Roman colony.
At the end of your tour, you’ll hop back on the coach and head back to Rome. The journey back takes around 3 hours. You will be dropped off in the city center or near your hotel.
The tour includes hotel pick-up for all those staying in centrally located hotels in Rome. If you’re staying in an apartment or bed and breakfast, please be at the meeting point (Via Vittorio Emanuele Orlando 95) between Termini and Barberini Square at the scheduled time.
