Suburban train lines

The network has three lines:

  • Rome – Lido.
  • Rome – Viterbo.
  • Rome – Giardinetti.

Of these lines the most important from a tourist's point of view is the Rome-Lido, since it stops at Ostia Antica.

Where can you buy tickets?

As they are the same ticket as is used on other forms of transportation, these can be bought in suburban train stations, metro stops, news stands and corner shops. If you are planning to use public transportation regularly we recommend that you buy a few tickets in advance or buy a travel card.

Timetable and frequency

The timetable for the suburban trains is approximately between 5:30 am and 10:30 pm. The Rome-Lido line operates until later, and the last train leaves at 11:30 pm.

The frequency of the trains is between 10 and 20 minutes, depending on the time of day.
